Super yachts may be just for the super rich. They are floating palaces with unique features and their price tags may shock most people. Privately owned vessels are popularly found in the Mediterranean, Middle East, and Caribbean. Some are now in the water while others are in still under final phrase of construction.

 

Which super yachts around the world are ranked as the largest in 2010?

 

Al Salamah is currently the 6th largest motor yacht in the world. Built by HDW and Lurseen Yachts, it is the property of the Saudi Arabian defense minister, Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz. It features more than 80 rooms, an indoor swimming pool, and a helipad.

The Serene is considered as one of the most technologically advanced super yachts currently being built. Designed by Monaco’s Espen Oeino designers and built by Fincantieri Yachts, it is scheduled to launch in 2010. The yacht is a culmination of over 50 years of strong growth and creativity by Fincantieri. It features two helicopter landing platforms, a large internal seawater pool, storage for a large submarine, and seven decks.

Al Mirqab is one of the largest yachts ever built. Owned by Qatar’s Emir Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, it is worth between $250 and $300 million. The yacht features a helicopter landing pad, a movie theater, a Jacuzzi on deck, and an on-board elevator. Its accommodation capacity is up to 60 guests and 60 crew members. Al Mirqab offers great comfort for all guests.

Owned by Larry Ellison and David Geffen, the Rising Sun costs yearly $13 million to maintain. The vessel can accommodate up to 16 guests and 45 crew members.

Owned by the Sultan Qaboos of Oman, Al Said is the world’s third largest super-yacht. It was code named Project Sunflower during its construction. She has six decks and a concert room.

The Savarona was the largest yacht in the world when launched in 1931. She is owned by the Republic of Turkey after having been leased to many clients in recent years. The yacht features a library, 282 foot gold-trimmed grand staircase, Turkish bath and a swimming pool.

The Prince Abdulaziz is owned by the Saudi Royal Family. The vessel was first set sail in 1984. It took 15 months to complete the interior of this massive vessel. She can carry a gross tonnage of 5092 tons.
