Vehicle Pet Barrier Or Dog Crate For Travelling With Your Dog

Vehicle Pet Barrier Or Dog Crate For Travelling With Your Dog

The Vehicle Pet Barrier keeps your dog confined to the rear area of your vehicle. The Vehicle Pet Barrier is installed behind the back seat of a car/van/SUV to prevent your dog from gaining access to anything but the back of the vehicle. This helps to keep your dog from being thrown forward in the event of an accident and will limit your dogs movement, preventing you dog from leaping forward and interfering with your driving. With a Vehicle Pet Barrier, your windows can also be let down a little more, providing cooler conditions if you absolutely must leave your pet unattended in the vehicle for a short period. Barriers also divide the car so passengers don't end up sitting on dog hair, mud, sand, and whatever else that may be left behind by your dog. And you don't have to keep looking back to make sure your dogs are behaving themselves.

The Dog Crate also keeps your dog confined to the rear area of your vehicle.

A Dog Crate that has doors on either end works best, as this allows access to your dog from the outside at the rear of the vehicle or inside from the front of the vehicle. The Dog Crate can be combined with a Vehicle Pet Barrier to keep the Dog Crate in the back of the vehicle. The Dog Crate should be wedged or strapped in position to ensure that the Dog Crate stays put while you're driving, thereby keeping your dog safe. When your dog is crate trained, your dog will be quite at ease riding in a Dog Crate in your vehicle. And you can add pet bedding and other accessories to make your dog's traveling quite comfortable

No matter which method you choose, back of the vehicle travel is always safer for your pet.

Some dog travel safety and convenience tips:

  • Use extreme caution when travelling with your dog in warm or hot weather. Leaving your dog in the car can be deadly. Even when the outside temperature is only in the 70's or 80's, the interior of your vehicle can reach 100 degrees and higher. Vehicles heat up very fast, and become much hotter than we realize. It takes a vehicle less than 20 minutes to go from a cool, air-conditioned state to 120 degrees and more when sitting in the sun, even with the window 'cracked' open for fresh air. On hot days the vehicle interior can reach 150 degrees in the same amount of time. It doesn't take long at these temperatures to cause serious or even fatal harm to your pet. In other words, do not leave your dog in the vehicle alone on sunny days.
  • Do not allow your dog's head out the window. Although many dogs find that riding with their head out the window is the best part of a trip, it's just not safe. Your dog can easily be injured by flying debris and/or get insects (or other things) forced up their nostrils or jammed down their ears.
  • NEVER travel with an unconfined dog in the back of a pickup truck. Some states have laws restricting this form of transport and it is always dangerous.
  • During a long journey, make sure to take frequent breaks so that your dogs can get a little exercise and take care of potty business. If you don't do this, you run the risk of having to travel with soiled seat covers or floor mats.
  • A visit to the veterinarian prior to a long journey is also a good idea. Your vet can provide advice and tips on keeping your pet healthy while you are on your trip.
